Pool Fill

On 14th December we filled the pool with 60,000 litres of fresh water. To fill using mains water would have taken 5 days so we had 10 tankers deliver the water within 2 hours. The water was then chemically treated to remove any bacteria and impurities and left to stand for 3 days during which time they coagulated and dropped to the bottom before being sucked out and disposed of. The water is continuously filtered through a sand filter to remove the bulk of the impurities and a residual very small dose of chlorine added using a salt-based chlorine generator. No chlorine is stored on site only salt. This chlorine ensures a safe residual level of bacterial protection of the water. The water feels lovely and fresh without the usual smell of chlorine (which is due to chloramines created from the reaction of chlorine with sweat, urine and other impurities).
